I agree D70. My buddy who is majoring in photography is looking to buy one, if that is convincing. Not to mention I think they are chear and a little better.
Good question. The D70 is a great camera. It definitely lives up to it's reputation, and delivers stunning results. What's nice about it is that it has all the manual features that you could ever want, but it doesn't get away from you. A fantastic camera to learn on and keep. I would recommend at least holding both before buying. The D70 feels like an artistic camera. GREAT body, where as the 20D is more chunky...not as asthetically pleasing.
However. There is a glass ceiling that you will feel with it after a while. You have to ask yourself what you want to do with it. I got to the point where I was starting to earn a decent amount with my photography, and felt that the D70 didn't hack it. It is a great camera, but it's not a professional camera. I upgraded to the D2H. I know quite a few pro photographers who use the 20D all the time. It's small size and higher resolution make it a good choice. One ascpect of the D70 that I didn't like was the lack of a hot sync connection for external flashes. Not really a huge deal, but something to consider.
The D70 is prosumer
The 20D is professional, but you'll pay more.
Just a few thoughts. Let me know if you have any questions.
wow, thanks for filling me in with that...
that was awesome.

I already bought the 20d though...I am so in love with it and I have NO regrets.

The curling and twirling and moving so fast Ripping and shredding as I skim past
YAY good choice. I luv Canon and always will. My first camera was the G5 and my next was going to be the 20D, but now the new 5D came out so I might get that. It cost more but it pump a full 35mm 12.8 mp sensor.
The D70 and 20D are both good but the 20D feels more solid and more professional. So congratulations on your choice
